The
sacroiliac joint at the base of the spine, formed between
the sacrum and the ilium bones of the
pelvis.
It is a strong joint with limited movement.
Symptoms
Deep aching and stiffness in the lower part of the
lumbar region, usually on one side. These symptoms are
most pronounced in the morning and after periods of inactivity.
The aching can radiate towards the buttock, back of
the thigh or the groin.
Inflammation of the sacroiliac joint can, however,
be painless.
Tenderness over the joint lines on the back of the
pelvis.
